Donald Trump was confronted over bombshell reports on conditions aboard Navy ships on lengthy Iran War deployments, and blurted out stunning and tone-deaf lies.
As we covered in this morning’s newsletter, the extended deployment for Trump’s Iran conflict has driven “multiple” service members to try and jump overboard amid deplorable conditions.
Trump hid out Thursday — the only 2 pool reports were to call a lunch lid and a lid for the day — while Pete Hegseth tried to do damage control.
But Hegseth’s denials were belied by a barrage of gut-wrenching texts that families are sending to journalists, including messages that were sent to Jim Acosta from the mother of a sailor on the USS Tripoli.
While Trump had no press opportunities scheduled, he did speak briefly to reporters at JBA to take credit for positive coverage on drug prices.
When he was asked about the families, Trump claimed that they are not, in fact, concerned — and that the deployments haven’t gone on “nearly long enough!”

TRUMP: No that ship is moving— No they're not. That ship is moving right now or very shortly, and it’s being replaced with another very similar ship.
REPORTER: Has the deployment gone on too long?
TRUMP: No, no no. Not nearly long enough! Thank you everybody.
This from a man who avoided service in Vietnam due to some alleged bone spurs.
He doesn't give two shits about anyone but himself and almost every day now he proves it. Claims the military loves him and then treats our service people overseas like this. I can't imagine how bad the conditions must be for service people to want to commit suicide. Their families are beside themselves.
