'Somebody Needs To Go To Jail!' Jim Acosta Destroys Trump Over New Kennedy Center Outrage
'Crazytown' To 'Put That Crazy Lunatic’s Name On The Side Of That Building!'
Jim Acosta went off on Donald Trump and his handpicked Kennedy Center board over their latest move to stain a memorial to a great American president with the name of a clownish failure.
When U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered Donald Trump’s name to be pried off the face of the Kennedy Center, we were there to cover it live. Which means we were there when the workers left a tarp covering the space where Trump’s name had been. Kindergarten-level pettiness.
Well, they’ve sunk even lower. In what the New York Times describes as “an aggressive test” of Cooper’s order, the board voted to add Trump’s name back:
The board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts voted on Thursday to inscribe President Trump’s name on the building beneath the main signage, according to two people with direct knowledge of the proceedings, aggressively testing a federal judge’s order.
According to the resolution approved by the Trump-allied board, the inscription underneath the institution’s name would read: “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump.” The board’s decision, which directs officials to act by “all legal means,” came shortly after it voted to move forward with Mr. Trump’s plan to shutter the building for renovations.
Acosta closed out his show Thursday afternoon with a blistering commentary about the move, calling it “crazytown” and warning everyone involved that those who eff around with this judge might just find out:
JIM ACOSTA: The fact that the Kennedy Center board would actually vote to inscribe his name on the building beneath the main signage is absolute crazy town nuttery! And I just want to say that something needs to be done.
I don’t know if the D.C. City Council and the new mayor want to stick their noses into all of this, but it seems to me that if they start chiseling Donald Trump’s name into the side of that building—or doing something to change the signage of that building in violation of a judge’s order—somebody needs to go to jail!
And we know it’s not going to be Donald Trump, because Donald Trump will do everything possible to not go to jail. But somebody on that Kennedy Center board, the construction crews who are out there—they should know that you are not to take a chisel to the Kennedy Center and put that crazy lunatic’s name on the side of that building!
It is not his building! The building was not named in his honor, neither will there be any building in Washington, D.C., that is named in his honor—let’s hope—because he doesn’t deserve to have a building named after him.
But the people who are on the Kennedy Center board need to be told in no uncertain terms that they are putting themselves in legal jeopardy by pulling this shit with the American people and pulling this shit with the people of Washington, D.C.
This is one of our cultural icons, as Sam was saying. And the last thing that we should have happen in the nation’s capital is Donald Trump’s disgusting, shameful name desecrating a living memorial to John F. Kennedy, who was a real president of the United States—not this reality TV game show, dime-store Richard Nixon who wants to act like a crook and thinks he can get away with it all the time!
