Donald Trump was peppered with questions about hiding out in a catering truck to escape an Iranian threat — but didn’t have to answer for his deranged plan to seize control of the midterms.

On Monday, the Washington Post dropped an incredible scoop about Trump’s trip home from Turkey last month, which was already wrapped in lies, threats and intimidation, and double-dealing intrigue.

Trump had already lied to the press about why they departed Turkey on an older Air Force One, telling them it was because Bribe Force One was sent ahead to be shown off for the troops when it was really due to an Iranian threat.

But it turns out Trump wasn’t on that plane either — he was smuggled off the plane in a catering truck and deposited on a military plane with the designation “Reach 18.”

Journalists are understandably not amused at being, as Jim Acosta put it, "used as bait, as decoys, as human shields.”

As he returned from the so-called “Patriot Games,” reporters fired questions at Trump on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews Tuesday night.

In a series of stunning exchanges, Trump spewed lies and incoherent garbage that would have set impeachment and 25th Amendment action in motion if it were anyone else — but he wasn’t even asked about the insane bomb he dropped hours earlier.

He opened with a series of lies as he sidled up to the gaggle, falsely claiming prices are going down, employment is going up, and that “We totally control the Strait of Hormuz.”

The country’s doing well. The stock market’s a fantastic record. And we have 79 records so far in a short period of time. More people are working right now in the United States than ever before, and prices are dropping fast. Iran is going fine, going just absolutely fine. We totally control the Strait of Hormuz. We have control over it. Nobody else, only us. Our Navy is unbelievable. And things are going great for our country.

Reporters wasted little time in asking him about the catering truck adventure. Trump made a series of claims that were either lies or stunning if true.

REPORTER: Mr. President, can you tell us about your ride on the Air Force catering truck in Turkey? Why did you need to do that?

TRUMP: Well, it’s only up to Secret Service. I just follow what they’d like to do. So I go by Secret Service and the military. They wanted me to go on a different flight, a different plane. Equal safety, but they wanted me to do it, so I do it. I do what they say.

REPORTER: Why did they want you to do that?

REPORTER: Sir, [inaudible] what was the threat?

TRUMP: I guess there was a threat out there. I didn’t really ask too much about it. I get a lot of threats.

Obviously, equal safety” is a lie or there would have been no need for the shell game. As for not being briefed on the threat, even for Dozin’ Donnie, that strains credulity. Would it be shocking if some FOIA request turns up an email showing it was all Trump’s idea, based on Bibi’s intel?

Next, Trump bizarrely claimed it was all the military’s call so they could show off Bribe Force One, even though he admitted it was Secret Service and the Iran threat seconds earlier.
