Maggie Haberman Calls BS On Trump Over 9/11 Bombshell — Hours After Trump Lashes Out Like Stone-Cold Lunatic

Hours after Donald Trump launched a despicable and unhinged attack on Maggie Haberman, the ace reporter and record-breaking author straight-up called BS on his claims about her bombshell report that he blew off the Ground Zero memorial because they wouldn’t let him give a speech.

It all started with reporting by Haberman, Zolan Kanno-Youngs, Dana Rubinstein, and Sally Goldenberg on just the latest in a long 25-year string of 9/11-related Trump outrages.

Four insiders told the NY Times that Trump is skipping the 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero because they wouldn’t let him give a speech:

President Trump is not planning to attend a ceremony in Manhattan for the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, in part because he wanted to deliver a speech and the annual event has long barred remarks, according to four people with knowledge of the events.

Mr. Trump’s team had conducted advance visits at the site and had initially signaled to officials in New York and in Washington that the president intended to visit the memorial space known as ground zero, two of the people with knowledge of the events said.

Maggie’s reporting has been duplicated by Alayna Treene from CNN, who cited two sources in her report.

Trump responded by lashing out like a toddler with rabies. As distasteful as it is, this is a news story. Trump’s message, which included his trademark impotent threats and name calling:

Maggot Hagerman, the Fake Reporter from The Failing New York Times, an unattractive person both inside and out, and who knows less about me than most reporters on the beat (She’s a SCAMMER!), made up a story that on September 11th, I’m not going to the World Trade Center, in New York City, because they won’t let me make a speech, and I’m going to the Pentagon in D.C., because I’m a featured speaker. This is more Corrupt News, I’ve been to New York many times over the years, and no one ever speaks, it’s a “solemn ceremony!” I never even thought of what Maggot made up, and besides, I would love not to speak, because I’m speaking all the time, and this is a day to remember the victims, and their beautiful family members. Maggot Hagerman is a PHONY, and The New York Times knows it! It will all be revealed in the lawsuit against them, and another lawsuit against the organization which gives out the now discredited Pulitzer Prize, because Maggie got one for her “reporting” on THE RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, which turned out to be a total CON JOB! If she were ever forced to reveal her “sources,” you will find out they either don’t exist, or didn’t say what she reported. Many of Haberman’s colleagues rushed to her defense, and Charlie Stadtlander, a spokesperson for The New York Times, put out this statement:

The Times’s reporting is based on information from multiple people with knowledge of the discussions and planning around New York’s Sept. 11 ceremony. Our journalists sought comment from the White House communications team, who provided a statement that didn’t contradict what we had learned. The president chose to attack the story 24 hours later, singling out one of the four reporters who wrote it. We are confident in the accuracy of the reporting.

Maggie was a guest on MS NOW’s The Weekend with Jonathan Capehart, Eugene Daniels, and Jackie Alemany on Saturday morning, hours after Trump’s attack.

She pointed out that the White House knew the report was coming and didn’t deny it prior to publication when the Times reached out. Haberman also called BS on the excuse the White House offered after the fact — the absurd claim that Trump was pushed out of the Ground Zero memorial because JD Vance is going to be there.

We stand by the reporting, and the Times put out a statement explaining that this is based on multiple sources, that we went to the White House, we were quite transparent with them about what we were reporting, including part of the reason why he was not going to New York was because he didn’t want to speak.

And White House did not say anything pushing back on what we were reporting, and then 24 hours later, the president started attacking the piece, you know, so readers can make their own assessment about a denial that comes a day later.

But look, it’s not because, Jackie, because Vance is going to New York. That plan changed.

Vance was not, you, know, Trump was going to New York. That was everybody’s understanding. And then he wasn’t.

And there may be multiple reasons why. Obviously, they’re all very security-minded right now. I know that the White House, amid all the threats from Iran and its proxies, the White House is very, very rattled, understandably, by the video about Barron Trump and the threats against him.

And so I do understand all of that. But the idea that the first president from New York City in a very long time isn’t attending this event that most former presidents are, that most people who represented New York are--.

He did attend in 2024, and that was shortly after the Butler assassination attempt -- wouldn’t be here for the 25th anniversary. That’s objectively news, and it wasn’t gonna stay secret, so.

Jim and I asked Maggie about just this sort of attack last week, and it is worth noting what she said then — which appears to go double now.

Tommy Christopher: I’ve been wanting to ask you this. Trump has attacked you on many occasions, and I hate to say it out loud, but we’re all reporters here, he called you “maggot,” which is one of the most disgusting things I could think of to call a person.

And I wanted to know, have you confronted him about that? And did he apologize? That’s my first question.

Maggie Haberman: No, and no, and I don’t care. He can say whatever he wants. Never came up.

I would rather hear him answer my questions about what I want to report on instead of argue about the name-calling, which is expansive and it’s not a great use of time.

Tommy Christopher: You’ve known him for so long and he’s known you for so—I mean, professionally. I don’t know. But you know what, props to you for being able to not personalize it.

Maggie Haberman: Thanks. It’s not. It’s just, we have a job to do. He’s going to do what he’s going to do, and I would rather use time to get information and get responses to my questions.

Tommy Christopher: Let me be the first to say for you, stop that shit.

As ostentatiously nasty and personal as Trump’s attack was, don’t sleep on his fervent wish to “force” journalists to reveal their sources. It’s an assault on the foundation of the First Amendment that goes back longer, for Trump, than his 9/11 shittery.
