Katie Zacharia is out as press secretary, hours after we predicted it in today’s newsletter and Daily Update. Jim Acosta had some quick thoughts:
Guys, this just in: Katie Zacharia is out as the White House press secretary. She has been fired after only five days on the job.
That is worse than what happened to my friend Anthony Scaramucci, who was the White House communications director during the first Trump administration for just 11 days.
Katie Zacharia obviously was never cut out for the job. You could see how poorly she performed at her very first White House briefing earlier in the week, but it was really the fact that she had presented herself as an attorney, as a lawyer, even though she did not pass the bar exam.
And she even went on Sean Hannity, who was giving her a hard time, pretending that he’s Tim Russert all of a sudden. That was a pretty clear indication because Sean talks to Trump, that Zacharia was on her way out, and it turns out she definitely is. She’s out. She’s been fired.
The news broke shortly after Trump told reporters he had given Zacharia some advice:
Katie, we hardly knew ye.
