Make America Gross Again: In case you missed it, Vivek Ramaswamy put out literally the most disgusting political ad in history, an attack against Democratic opponent Amy Acton. You can get caught up on the whole story in yesterday’s newsletter and Daily Update.
Well, it’s a new day, and we can report that Donald Trump and Mini-Me JD Vance are all in to defend the ad that any person with a conscience or a self-serving political interest is denouncing.
‘DISGUSTED’: That’s the word JD Vance used — not for the ad, but for the Republicans denouncing it.
‘Playing’ Dumb: Trump defended the ad when he was confronted by reporters, pretending not to know about it except to push its message.
Normally, the stupid is not an act.
Steal or No Deal: Meanwhile, during a roundtable event, Trump explicitly tied the easing of sanctions to the release of detained American Stephen Hubbard — seconds after claiming “We gave nothing in exchange, which is very rare -- we never give anything in exchange.”

…Well, I was in the midst of getting Stephen out of Russia, and if we did what these foolish people wanted me to do, uh, he wouldn’t be coming out right now. He’d be in there for another 20 years. So, the last thing I was going to do is break up that.
Russian Dressing-Down: But at a press gaggle on his way to South Carolina, Trump flipped out on two different reporters for repeating back to him the exact thing he said.
This just a day after he growled at Andrew Feinberg and amid a series of bombshell cognitive incidents. The man is disintegrating before our eyes under the pressure of a midterm steamroller he can’t escape.
