Welcome to the Jim Acosta Morning Memo on a Tuesday morning after Trump fantasized about nuking millions of Americans as he defended territory his party considered safe before he came along.
He’s Where Now?: Leading off, Trump spent Monday night in Nebraska, of all places, where the Senate race has tightened to within the margin of error.
Apocalypse Wow: So what does Trump do? He invokes an unspeakable scenario — and the crowd goes wild.
And again, remember with the war, it’s just artificial. It’s a little bit high. It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe.
If they could take out a city, let them take— Let it Let ‘em take out Los Angeles. Let ‘em take out San Diego. That’s— This is a very small price to pay and it’s going to be over with very soon.
That Trump could gleefully speak such a grim fantasy is stunning, even for him. That his crowd roared with approval is shameful.
Out Of Gas: Seconds later, Trump made his BS promise that the war will end soon and gas prices will drop — and that same crowd responded with dead silence.
So to recap — they go wild over nuking millions of fellow Americans, but just aren’t that excited about lower gas prices. Even they aren’t buying it.
Gaggle Rock: Backing up a bit, Trump repeatedly lashed out at reporters as he departed the White House for Nebraska, first because he was confronted over his lies about mail-in voting.
No Bueno: Then he went into delusional denial when he was confronted about his cratering approval with Hispanic voters.
Yeah, or maybe it’s the fake tough guys in your ICE goon squad that’s tanking your approval. Just a thought.
Germ Army Assemble: Trump was also asked about the pneumonic plague outbreak in Siberia, and gave this less-than-comforting response.
You can just hear RFK gearing up to blame vaccines or put out a preventative roadkill cookbook.
