Welcome to the Jim Acosta Morning Memo on a Friday morning after Trump cracked under pressure and flipped out on a reporter for asking him why he canceled rallies, as the midterm disaster rushes up at him like the bottom of a canyon.

I’m Jim Acosta. Let’s go to work!

Cracking: Donald Trump completely lost his marbles on Reuters reporter Jacob Bogage when he asked if Trump canceled rallies in Kansas and Iowa because he’s quote “sick of traveling.”

The not-at-all defensive Trump flipped out, apparently mistaking the question for a challenge to his health and fitness.

REPORTER: So you not going to Kansas has nothing to do with you being sick of traveling?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Oh, you’re sick to ask that question. You are sick. Who you with?

REPORTER: I’m with Reuters, sir.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: You are a sick guy. Reuters is terrible, by the way. Can you imagine? Look at this. Look at this guy. He’s way out of shape.

Aside from the meltdown, it’s also fascinating that Trump immediately leapt to declare he didn’t find the man attractive, part of a theme that has been playing out in his constant rhapsodizing about the men and asses he DOES find appealing.

Gone Baby Gone: While Trump and his allies are spinning this as a strategic pivot to tele-rallying to reach more people, MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough reports chatter that the real reason is Trump is hearing these races are quote “gone.”

Losing It: Let’s be clear, Trump has been losing it for weeks, a fact that was on full display earlier on Thursday when he took the stage in South Carolina to rally for the beleaguered Darline Graham. But first, a quick…

MAAP Check: Here’s a little something different. Since Trump bailed out on rallies in Kansas and Iowa, let’s take a look at how surrendering those states would look come Tuesday.

Using our MAAP scenario-builder, let’s give Democrats all of the seats they’re leading in, plus Iowa where they trail slightly in the average.

That would give the Democrats control of the Senate with 54 seats, a scenario that seems more likely amid reports Trump bailed onthose rallies because he’s been told they are losers. Kind of like him.

Go check out the full MAAP for yourselves and try out the interactive function.
