Welcome to the Jim Acosta Morning Memo on a Monday morning after a packed weekend that began with an unhinged Trump attack on a woman who was doing her job and ended with him spouting lies and ranting about golf. Let’s go to work!
The Constant Gardner: Despite embarrassing defeats in court, Trump banned CNN from Air Force One for his trip to Tennessee Saturday morning, which prompted MS NOW’s Akayla Gardner to confront him as he departed the White House.
Trump melted down on Gardner and shoved his finger at her as she refused to back down.
GARDNER: Do you only want outlets that support you to be a part of the press pool?
TRUMP: No, no, no. I want real news, not fake news — like you. I want-
CROSSTALK: Mr. President-
TRUMP: Listen. I want real news. I love an open, free press. What I don’t like is the fake press where a group like CNN, few people watch it, or MSDNC, which they changed I guess to NOW. But, you know why they changed it? Because their ratings are so bad. What I don’t like-
GARDNER: Do you not want tough questions, sir?
TRUMP: Wait, wait. Quiet. What I- what I don’t like is fake news. And they’re fake news. 100%. In two years…
GARDNER: Do you not want tough questions, sir?
TRUMP: …In two years, I doubt they did one good story. And I won the election in a landslide. So what we don’t want is we don’t want fake news! [JAMS FINGER AT HER]
Jeeeers Donnie: From there, it was off to Tennessee, where he attended the Texas vs. Tennessee football game. It was tough to make out the reaction from the broadcast when Trump was introduced on the Jumbotron.
But local news anchor Will Puckett posted social media video that clearly showed loud boos mixed in with the applause.
Natalie’s Show-and-Tell: During the game, video influencer Aaron Rupar flagged a still photo in which Natalie Harp can be seen showing a laptop screen to Trump and a guest, a powerful illustration of the influence the controversial staffer has over Trump
Speaking of Harp, Trump’s so-called “Human Binkie” was the star of a brutal cold open when Saturday Night Live opened their 52nd season. Ashley Padilla portrayed Harp crashing a meeting with Zohran Mamdani and warning “If you hurt him, I will end you!”
It’s gonna be awkward when she shows THAT to him on her laptop.

Golf Clap: Trump attended another sporting event on Sunday, the President’s Cup golf tournament, where he faced a decidedly more friendly crowd — although the Mirror did report someone yelling out “You suck!” during his remarks.
He used those remarks to try and influence coverage of his visit.
