Welcome to the Jim Acosta Morning Memo on a Wednesday morning after a Great Big Beautiful Blue Wave swept across the country and washed away years of grimy MAGA buildup. It’s still going.
Grab your coffee and watch the wave with us!
MAAP Check: Let’s start off with a look at the Acosta-exclusive MAAP, which shows the Trump-fueled GOP disaster-in-progress.
What you see here is the final MAAP of where the polls stood when the voting started.
Go check out the full MAAP to see where the races stand now.
The results are stunning. Democrats have taken control of both chambers, with 54 confirmed Senate victories and another two still undecided. In the House, 219 races have been called for Dems, but their final tally could reach as high as 250.
Jim Class: We had the whole night covered from the Institute For Politics at UVA with Jim Acosta and Katie Couric, along with a stacked lineup of experts and guests. Check out our full coverage.
Holidaze: Speaking of which, we think Anthony Scarmucci summed up the night with this iconic description as he and Mary Trump joined our show.
Anthony Scaramucci: I got to just say something, okay?
For me, it’s like the Easter Bunny got together with the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus, okay? And they all got together, and they showed up at the house, and I’m seven years old, okay?
This is such a repudiation, and I am so happy for my country that we are woken up this, and we are going to slay this beast. I’ve got to do the Scaramucci calculation of how many Scaramuccis are left for this dude to go off the waterfall.
Toast of Texas: The results are so Earth-shattering that it’s hard to pick and choose top stories, but for sheer generational trauma-soothing, you can’t beat Texas, where James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa absolutely crushed Ken Paxton and Greg Abbott.
After the heartbreak of Beto O’Rourke’s near miss in 2018, Democrats could scarcely believe their own eyes when they saw this win on the horizon. But it’s here and it’s real.
Here’s a little bit of the victory speeches by Governor-Elect Gina Hinojosa and Senator-Elect James Talarico.
‘Call Me Senator’: After facing tons of cash, a racist blitz from Trump and his allies, and an 11th-hour shock from Haley Stevens, Abdul El-Sayed became Senator-Elect Abdul El-Sayed. He had a message for Trump.
Donald, I know you struggled with my name. So after JD swears me in in January, you can just go on and call me Senator.
Dr. SENATOR Annie Andrews: Another once-unthinkable result was the stunning Andrews victory in South Carolina. And here’s an all-too-rare gracious victory speech.

Bottoms Up: Keisha Lance Bottoms and Jon Ossoff wiped out their Republican opponents, and Lance Bottoms became the first Black woman elected to the Georgia governorship — a history she referenced powerfully in her victory speech.
